The Flight to Mt Cook
Following the Rangitata River to its source high in the Southern Alps where it starts as snow and ice. We then track south viewing the landscapes on the east and west of the mountains that are unique to this region. Upon arriving at the National Park we view the biggest and renown Tasman, Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers set amongst 22 peaks over 10,000 feet in a pristine environment of snow, rock and ice. We fly south around the majestic Mt Cook with its amazing ice falls, crevasses and view of the Tasman Glacier Terminal Lake complete with icebergs. On the way back across the Mackenzie Basin you will see the turquoise - blue Lake's Tekapo and Pukaki, Round Hill ski field before following the Orari River past Mt Peel back to the Air Rangitata airfield.
